How it started
It all started when my girlfriend and I went to the Philippines and experienced a Tribe Banua authetic boat tour in the Palawan. We had the time of our life (read the entire story here). Having basic skills in Web development, I decided to help this small family business by creating a website for them.
I also felt that travelers and backpackers had to know this existed and that there was not just Tao Philippines that provided those kinds of services. Plus, the fact that it was more affordable than what Toa proposed was a great relieve for us and we knew this would be for other travelers too.
The Teams
There are two main “teams” related to this website.
My brother and I run what I call the Digital Experience team. We take care of the website and try to spread the word on the Internet that the service exists. The Expedition team is run by the Tribe Banua owners (Ritz and Welson). They are really laid back, nice and funny people. Their entire family and friends is taking part of the projects, be it by building a boat, a hut or guiding the expeditions.
So, booking with them means giving jobs to the local community which I think is cool.
Our Mission
Our goal is to help travelers and packpackers make the most amazing memories at an affordable fee.
We believe that it is by being in an authentic setting and able to connect with local people that one can really experience the culture. To us, experiencing the culture is the key to unforgettable memories.
We also plan to help travelers take care of the planet while traveling, by providing tips on things like how to preserve the corals, reduce wastes and the use of (disposable) plastic.
